Usyk and Fury’s 11-minute staredown sets a new record
Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk and British boxer Tyson Fury held their final press conference before the fight. It ended with a record-breaking staredown, according to the live broadcast of the press conference.
At the press conference, both boxers were quite brief with their words.
Fury stated that he would "dish out a whole lot of pain" to his opponent.
"That's all I got to say. Talking's been done. The first fight I talked, I joked – all my career - this time, I am serious. I am going to do some serious damage. Watch me go to work," he added.
Usyk's response was even shorter.
"Now, we have just a performance; the talks, cameras, light and show. Everything is going to be taking place on Saturday night," Usyk noted.
The staredown began after the athletes answered journalists' questions. Neither Usyk nor Fury wanted to look away.
The staredown lasted for 11 minutes and 20 seconds. While Usyk remained calm, Fury made aggressive statements towards the Ukrainian athlete.
In particular, the Briton threatened to "destroy" the Ukrainian in the ring.
