The United States continues to support Europe and Ukraine. At the same time, the focus of Donald Trump’s new administration has shifted, states Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, during the Ramstein meeting.

"The US is our most important partner, for Ukraine and all of Europe. The US told us, after the new administration came in, that they will stand by Europe, stand by Ukraine, but their focus will be on the Indo-Pacific region," he said.

According to Umerov, "The US continues to participate in the Ramstein group, provides us with assistance, and has taken the lead in peace initiatives."

"Ukraine has supported President Trump's peace initiative and has taken part in several meetings where the American team received 100% support from the Ukrainian side," the minister added.

US assistance

According to The Wall Street Journal, without US military aid, Ukraine has enough weapons to continue fighting at the current pace until the summer. After that, Kyiv could run out of ammunition and be unable to use some of its most advanced weapons systems.

As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated, Ukraine is ready to purchase air defense systems and other weapons from the US worth between $30 and $50 billion.

Overall, Europe has clearly surpassed the US in terms of total aid to Ukraine, providing €70 billion in financial and humanitarian assistance, as well as €62 billion in military aid. The US, for its part, has allocated €64 billion in military assistance and €50 billion in financial and humanitarian support.
