US Vice President JD Vance responded to criticism and outlined the basic principles of any peace plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

Vance notes that any plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war must stop the killing while preserving Ukraine's sovereignty, be acceptable to both Russia and Ukraine, and increase the chances that the war will not resume.

According to him, those who criticize the US peace plan either misunderstand it or misinterpret the critical realities on the ground.

"There is a fantasy that if we just give more money, more weapons, or more sanctions, victory is at hand. Peace won't be made by failed diplomats or politicians living in a fantasy land. It might be made by smart people living in the real world," the US Vice President adds.

US peace plan

American and Russian officials have developed a plan to end the war in Ukraine. It consists of 28 points.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has officially received the draft plan from the US and plans to discuss it with US President Donald Trump in the near future.

Western media revealed the full text of the peace plan.

The White House acknowledged that the plan is not easy for Ukraine, but the US believes that the war must end and that if this does not happen, Ukraine is likely to lose even more territory.

In particular, the plan provides for the transfer of part of the Donbas territories to Russia in exchange for providing Ukraine and the EU with long-term security guarantees, reducing the Ukrainian army, abandoning long-range weapons, etc.

The US is calling on Ukraine and Russia to sign a peace plan in the near future, but it has immediately faced harsh criticism. This is because the plan requires significant concessions from Kyiv.

In addition, Russians were likely involved in drafting the plan, as indicated by some strange phrases in the document. Western media suspect that some of them appear to have been originally written in Russian.

The European Union is disappointed with the US approach to resolving the war in Ukraine and the very bad peace plan that requires concessions from Kyiv.

Therefore, European leaders are developing their own plan to end the war in Ukraine, which should be more favorable to Kyiv.

In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed all Ukrainians regarding the US peace plan. He stressed that the country may now face a very difficult choice.
