The United States has called on Tehran to fully resume cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which was halted following strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

This was stated by US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce during a media briefing on July 2.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce called Iran’s suspension of cooperation with the IAEA unacceptable, especially given that, in her view, Tehran still had an opportunity to change course and choose the path of peace and prosperity.

She emphasized that Iran must fully resume cooperation with the IAEA without further delay and comply with its safeguards agreement under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Bruce also noted that the Iranian government should provide the Agency with the necessary information to clarify and resolve longstanding issues related to undeclared nuclear materials.

Suspension of US-Iran nuclear talks

Following strikes by Israel and the US on nuclear infrastructure sites, Tehran halted negotiations with Washington over its nuclear program. Iran also restricted cooperation with the IAEA and hinted at the possibility of withdrawing from the NPT.

The US has indicated readiness to resume talks on the nuclear deal, but only if Iran fully abandons its ambitions for nuclear weapons.
Donald Trump did not rule out easing sanctions on Iran but made it conditional. Meanwhile, Tehran also outlined its demands for reengaging in dialogue with the US.
