US, Ukraine should return to talks with European partners - Nausėda

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda believes that the US and Ukraine need to return to the negotiating table. However, European leaders should also be present, according to the Lithuanian president's post on X.
Ahead of the summit in London, Nausėda met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and representatives from two other Baltic states — Estonia and Latvia. He shared the outcomes of the meeting on social media.
"We should not spare our effort to maintain a strong transatlantic bond. US and Ukraine should return to the negotiation table, together with Europeans," Nausėda stated.
The Lithuanian president also backed remarks by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on the importance of NATO's eastern flank.
"NATO eastern flank safety is a priority. European peace enforcement - a possible element of security guarantees for Ukraine," Nausėda concluded.
Before departing for London, Tusk stressed the need to strengthen NATO's eastern flank. He noted that he would call for an increased European military presence in Finland, the Baltic states, and Poland at the summit.
"It’s a paradox, someone rightly pointed this out, that 500 million Europeans are asking 300 million Americans to defend them from 140 million Russians," Tusk said.
