US to provide Ukraine $725 million military aid package soon - AP
The United States plans to send an additional $725 million in military aid to Ukraine. The package will include counter-drone systems and ammunition, AP reports.
The news was confirmed by two US officials on the condition of anonymity. However, they did not confirm whether the new package included HIMARS munitions. According to them, Ukraine has insisted on receiving more long-range missiles to target additional objectives on Russian territory.
The package will also include more anti-personnel landmines, which Ukraine hopes will help slow down Russian and North Korean ground forces in Russia's Kursk region.
US aid to Ukraine
In early November, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced new assistance to Ukraine. The previous aid package was provided in response to the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia, including to the Kursk region.
The latest aid package to Ukraine from the US was received on November 20. It included ammunition for HIMARS and 155mm and 105mm shells.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the United States would provide a series of military aid packages to Ukraine between October and December. Their cost will range from $500 million to $750 million.
