Russia struck an ATB supermarket in Chernihiv city in northern Ukraine with a drone on the afternoon of July 26. Children were among those killed and injured.

Strike on ATB supermarket

The first official to report the strike on the ATB supermarket was Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration.

According to him, two people were killed in the attack, while 13 others—four men and nine women—were injured.

"Three people were hospitalized in moderate condition. The others received outpatient medical assistance and were sent home," he said.

Meanwhile, Chernihiv Regional Military Administration head Viacheslav Chaus added that a 9-year-old girl was among those killed, while a 10-year-old boy was among the injured.

"Three people are currently in intensive care. Doctors are providing the victims with the necessary medical assistance," he added.

President Zelenskyy's response

"Russians continue to 'defeat' ordinary civilian targets. An absolutely cynical drone strike on an ordinary supermarket in Chernihiv. They deliberately hit people with no military purpose whatsoever," President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on social media.

Law enforcement officers provide details

According to Suspilne public broadcaster, citing a statement by Chernihiv regional police chief Volodymyr Tymoshko, preliminary findings by explosives experts indicate that Russian forces struck the ATB supermarket with a Geran-4 jet-powered drone, equipped with a video camera.
