US to announce new military aid package for Ukraine in coming days – White House
The United States is planning to announce military assistance to Ukraine in the coming days, stated John Kirby, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, according to Voice of America correspondent Ostap Yarysh.
Kirby did not specify the date when the new military aid package for Ukraine will be announced, nor what kind of weapons Ukrainian defenders will receive.
Assistance from the United States
The United States has recently increased the frequency of announcements regarding new military aid packages for Ukraine.
This intensified support is linked to the upcoming inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20. The Biden administration aims to use all allocated funds for Ukraine before this date.
On December 30, US President Joe Biden allocated about $2.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
In particular, $1.24 billion was allocated for a military aid package to Ukraine, which is provided from the Pentagon's stockpile. This means that deliveries should start relatively quickly. It includes ammunition for HIMARS, missiles for air defense systems, and more.
Another $1.22 billion was allocated for an assistance package under the USAI program. This means that the weapons that Ukraine will receive were procured from the US defense industry.
