US State Department outlines vision for Ukraine's success strategy
There are three ways to ensure Ukraine's success in the war against Russia. It is necessary to deprive Moscow of the opportunity to advance in the east, use close fire lines, and cause economic damage to Ukraine, says James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
He states that when he talked about Ukraine's success strategy, he meant that they needed to stop Russia's attempts to break through in the east, considering this the first step to success.
He notes that this involves denying Russia the ability to use its firing lines and prevent Ukraine from rebuilding its economy. Such progress can be achieved by providing Ukrainians with sufficient air defense and other weapons to enable them to fight for a long period.
Eventually, there will come a point where Russia will have to consider whether it can push further.
Summarizing the above, the State Department representative added that the definition of Ukraine's success is also that the country can eventually control all of its internationally recognized territory.
The United States does not recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, as this status would entail some negative consequences, including humanitarian ones.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that after the completion of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union, the country will be three steps away from full membership in the EU.
