The United States has no plans to change its nuclear doctrine in response to Russia's move, stating there is currently no reason to do so, according to Reuters.

According to the agency, the White House National Security Council stated that the US was not surprised by Russia's decision to update its nuclear doctrine, as similar signals had been observed over the past few weeks.

"Observing no changes to Russia’s nuclear posture, we have not seen any reason to adjust our own nuclear posture or doctrine in response to Russia’s statements today," the statement said.

Another provocation by Russia

Today, November 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved changes to Russia's nuclear doctrine, first announced on September 26.

These changes include provisions allowing Russia to use nuclear weapons in response to a massive drone attack or an assault on its territory by a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear one.

In a commentary to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel, former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladyslav Seleznov suggested that these changes are unlikely to lead to the actual use of Russian nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized G20 leaders, currently gathered at a summit, for the lack of a strong response to Russia's provocation.
