US Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed to President Donald Trump a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin that he had received during a conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, according to journalist Alex Raufoglu.

"Rubio just told reporters that Lavrov had conveyed a message from Putin intended for Trump, which Rubio said he relayed," the journalist says.

According to him, the US Secretary of State also downplayed speculation that Russia had specifically called on Washington to withdraw embassy personnel from Kyiv, as Moscow had announced strikes.

"The danger in all of these wars, as they continue and then they go on, is that they always have the threat of escalation," Rubio says.

Rubio and Lavrov held a conversation during which the latter urged the US diplomatic staff to leave due to potential Russian strikes on the capital. Russia promised the announced attacks, allegedly in response to regular drone strikes in Russia, although there are various theories about what Russia is aiming to achieve in this way.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that threats to strike Kyiv are a form of blackmail intended to extract concessions during negotiations.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the day before that Ukraine stabilized the front line. This was achieved, in particular, through the use of drones.
