US recorded at least 10 cases of Russia's use of North Korean missiles against Ukraine
In the State Department of the US, there have been recorded at least 10 cases of Russian invaders using North Korean missiles in the war against Ukraine, states Jung Pak, a high-ranking US official responsible for issues related to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the State Department.
The official noted that the US is concerned about North Korea selling weapons to Russia for use against Ukraine, including against civilian infrastructure.
"This concerns us greatly. There have been at least 10 cases of DPRK missile use on the battlefield. So, we are very concerned about what this means for the proliferation of weapons in the future, and how it exacerbates the situation," said Jung Pak.
According to the US, North Korea has already supplied Russia with at least 10,000 containers of weaponry.
Use of North Korean ammunition against Ukraine by Russia
In December 2023, the White House announced that Russia had purchased ballistic missiles from North Korea. In early January, there was information that the occupiers had struck Kharkiv with North Korean missiles.
Vadym Skybytskyi, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, told RBC-Ukraine in an interview that North Korea had been actively supplying ammunition to the Russian Federation throughout the fall. According to intelligence estimates, the Russian army could have received around a million shells from the DPRK.
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin stated on February 16 that the Russians had already used at least 24 ballistic missiles of North Korean origin to shell Ukraine.
