US placed sanctions on tankers involved in generating revenue for Iran's military
The United States today, April 4th, imposed sanctions against companies and tankers assisting Iran's military in earning money, according to the US Department of the Treasury.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury is taking additional measures to reduce Iran's income.
The restrictions were imposed on Oceanlink Maritime DMCC for facilitating the supply of Iranian goods on behalf of Iran's General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics.
Additionally, the US identified 13 vessels under the management of Oceanlink Maritime DMCC and imposed sanctions on them. The Treasury Department noted that these vessels had interacted with other tankers that are already under restrictions.
Brian Nelson, Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, stated that the US is focused on undermining Iran's ability to finance its terrorist proxies and partner groups, as well as supporting Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.
Sanctions against Iran
Earlier, it was reported that the US imposed sanctions against companies aiding Iran in the production of kamikaze drones.
Additionally, leaders of the European Union are prepared to take new and significant measures against Iran amid reports that Tehran is transferring ballistic missiles to Russia for use against Ukraine.
In March, the United States also imposed new sanctions against a network that helped finance missile production in Iran.
