The United States of America opposes the inclusion of continued support for Ukraine in the G7 summer statement, Politico reports.

According to unnamed officials involved in the talks, the White House, in addition to including continued support for Ukraine, the White House also does not want the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine to be labeled "illegal."

US attempts to weaken resolutions and communiqués

On February 24, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted to reaffirm Ukraine's territorial integrity by adopting a resolution condemning Russia's full-scale invasion. At the same time, the United States was among those who voted against it.

The Ukrainian resolution, which was supported by Europe, was adopted before the vote on the opposite US proposal. The latter only called for a quick end to the war.

Subsequently, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of the American draft resolution, which included European amendments that the Americans opposed. For example, the "Russian-Ukrainian conflict" was replaced by "full-scale invasion."

Meanwhile, media reports suggest that the communiqué of the NATO summer summit may be very short to prevent President Donald Trump's impatience.
