Boston court has sentenced US serviceman Jack Teixeira to 15 years in prison for leaking classified Pentagon information via Discord, according to CBS News.

"I'm sorry for all of the harm that I've brought and I've caused. I understand that all of the responsibility and consequences falls upon my shoulders alone," said Teixeira.

Jack Teixeira was found guilty of sharing documents related to sensitive issues, including the full-scale war in Ukraine, detailed troop movements, and timelines for Western weapons deliveries.

Teixeira case

On April 7, 2023, classified NATO and US plans related to preparing Ukrainian forces for a counteroffensive became available to the public. The US Department of Defense later confirmed the data leakage.

Investigations later revealed that the classified information first surfaced in a small online group on the social media platform Discord, where Teixeira, an Air National Guardsman, was an administrator.

On April 13, 2023, US authorities arrested Teixeira as the suspected leak source.

According to The New York Times, he had been sharing classified files from the Department of Defense since just a few days after the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Teixeira was subsequently charged with six cases of unauthorized disclosure.
