US military strikes Houthi targets in Yemen's capital
On the evening of Saturday, December 21, explosions rocked Yemen. The US Central Command confirmed that airstrikes were carried out, reports The Times of Israel.
The US Central Command stated that the targets of the US strikes were a missile storage facility and a control center, both under the control of Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
They added that the attack would degrade the rebels' ability to carry out strikes similar to those that targeted American military vessels and commercial ships in the southern Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden.
Additionally, according to CENTCOM, during the operation, US forces also shot down several drones and an anti-ship cruise missile over the Red Sea.
“The strike reflects CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to protect U.S. and coalition personnel, regional partners, and international shipping,” the statement adds.
Notably, explosions rocked the city of Sana’a in Yemen on the evening of December 21. This occurred just hours after the Houthis launched a strike on Tel Aviv, Israel.
