The United States continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine. Moreover, this support remains strategically important for both countries, according to a statement by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi during a press conference for the media.

Tykhyi stated that US military assistance to Ukraine is ongoing.

"As for the specific amounts remaining under the president's program, let us observe how events unfold and how contacts between the Ukrainian and American sides proceed. I believe any issues can be resolved," he noted.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that US support for Ukraine is strategically important not only for Kyiv but also for Washington.

"Overall, you understand that US military support for Ukraine is a strategic matter, strategically important for the United States itself. We convey to the American side that this support is key to achieving a just peace," Tykhyi said.

Trump threatened to halt US assistance

Before Trump's inauguration, the United States more frequently announced new military aid packages for Ukraine.

This increased activity was linked to the efforts of former US President Joe Biden's administration to utilize all funds allocated for aid to Ukraine.

For instance, on December 30, Biden directed approximately $2.5 billion in military assistance to Ukraine.

This was anticipated, as during his presidential campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly expressed his intention to quickly end the war in Ukraine. In one such statement, Trump criticized the scale of support for Ukraine and threatened to stop financial aid.
