US President-elect Donald Trump is likely to pardon the participants in the storming of the Capitol. This opinion has already been expressed by one of the judges, according to CNN.

US District Judge Rudolph Contreras has agreed to postpone next month’s trial for William Pope, who participated in the Capitol riot and faces several misdemeanor charges.

A few days after Trump's re-election, Pope asked the court to postpone the trial until after the inauguration, as the Republican promised to pardon some of the participants in the Capitol attack.

Judge Contreras acknowledged a “real possibility” that Trump could eventually pardon Pope.

The judge stated that resource conservation justifies delaying the trial, as selecting a jury would be a “significant burden” for both the public and the court.

A new trial date for Pope is now expected to be set in mid-December.

Trump’s election victory

Last week, Donald Trump won the presidential election. Republicans are also leading in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Today, it was confirmed that Republicans secured a majority in the House of Representatives.
