US issues warning to Russia over support for Iran

The United States has called on countries around the world, including Russia, to stop providing any support to Iran and refrain from interfering in the conflict, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, according to Fox News.
During the broadcast, the host mentioned a meeting between Russian officials and Iranian representatives, where Moscow assured Tehran of its support and asked what the United States would tell the Russians.
"My message to everyone is: stay away. We all want this conflict to end, and the fastest way for the conflict to end is for no one to provide any support to this regime," the US Treasury chief replied.
Bessent stressed that Washington plans to completely cut the Iranian regime off from external financial and logistical channels.
"For instance, last Friday we sanctioned the Dubai branches of an Egyptian bank, and they had provided more than $1.8 billion to the regime since 2025. And we are going to systematically go through and take every bad actor like that out," he said.
What preceded this
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held talks on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek.
During the meeting with the Russian leader, the Iranian president thanked Moscow for its position.
Putin, in turn, said Russia was trying to provide the necessary assistance and praised Iran’s courage and resilience in the struggle for national interests.
The Russian leader also said the two countries were maintaining momentum in their trade and economic relations and conveyed greetings to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Russia had been secretly helping Iran develop hypersonic cruise missiles for years. It is one of the most significant known transfers of strategic military technology from Moscow to Tehran.
Reuters also previously reported that Russia could be linked to Iranian strikes on CIA facilities in the Persian Gulf.
