The United States has decided to invest over $500 million in Polish military infrastructure. The investment project covers several regions hosting four military bases, according to Polish government spokesperson Adam Szłapka.

"Strong alliances mean real security. The US has approved over $500 million in investments in Poland’s military infrastructure — in Drawsko-Pomorskie, Powidz, Wrocław, and Łask. Cooperation with the US strengthens the country’s defense and NATO’s eastern flank," Szłapka wrote.

Currently, around 10,000 US troops are stationed at several military bases in Poland. At the same time, despite close military cooperation with Poland, the US plans to withdraw part of its forces from the country.

In early December, it was reported that the US offered Poland 250 used Stryker armored personnel carriers at a "symbolic price" — one dollar per vehicle. The armored vehicles come from US units that Washington plans to withdraw.

This transfer is linked to the large-scale reduction of the US military presence in Eastern Europe that began in the second half of 2025. About 800 US service members are being recalled from Romania, and the US also plans to reduce its contingents in Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Hungary.

Earlier in 2025, upon taking office, US President Donald Trump announced plans to cut the American military presence in Europe by 20%. However, Congress, as well as several US generals and politicians, opposed the move.
