The US has imposed sanctions on over 30 Russian oil service companies. At the same time, restrictions have also affected a Serbian company linked to Gazprom Neft, according to the US government website and the US Department of the Treasury.

Today, the US Department of the Treasury took radical measures to fulfill G7 commitments to reduce Russian revenues from energy resources, including blocking two major Russian oil producers, namely Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz.

In addition to them, the United States announced sanctions targeting more than 30 other Russian oil service companies. The list includes:

  • RN-Burenie (a subsidiary of Rosneft)
  • OFS Technologies (which combines former Baker Hughes assets in Russia)
  • RN-GRP
  • RN-Servis
  • RN-Vankor
  • Achimgaz
  • Gazprom Shelfproject
  • Atlas NNB
  • Frakdzhet-Volga
  • Investgeoservis
  • Neftegaz-Burenie
  • Petro Welt Technologies
  • TNG-Grupp
  • UDS Neft

"The United States is taking sweeping action against Russia’s key source of revenue for funding its brutal and illegal war against Ukraine," said Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen.

Sanctions have also affected the Serbian company NIS, which is a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft.

According to the US Department of the Treasury, as a result of today's actions, all property and interests of the sanctioned entities located in the United States or owned or controlled by US persons are blocked.

It is worth noting that today's restrictions include sanctions against 183 vessels, mainly oil tankers that are part of the shadow fleet and oil tankers owned by Russian fleet operators. Several of the vessels sanctioned today carried not only Russian oil but also Iranian oil.

At the same time, starting from February 27, the US will prohibit its companies from providing oil service services in Russia.

We previously reported that new US sanctions could impact Russian oil supplies to India. More details on this can be found in the RBC-Ukraine material.

Recently, there were reports that the US plans to impose additional sanctions against Russia, targeting tankers that transport Russian oil.

Moreover, we reported that the largest ports in China have closed their entry to tankers of Moscow's shadow fleet.
