US imposes sanctions against North Korea and Russia: List includes DPRK generals
The US has imposed new sanctions on Russia and North Korea, including North Korean generals who were sent to Russia, this is stated in a US Treasury Department announcement, according to Sky News.
As noted by the agency, the new restrictions are aimed at Pyongyang's financial activities and military support for Moscow.
In particular, sanctions were imposed against:
- North Korean banks;
- North Korean generals;
- DPRK officials;
- Russian oil transport companies.
North Korean banks Golden Triangle Bank and Korea Mandal Credit Bank are now under sanctions.
DPRK troops in Russia
Back in October, it became known that North Korea had sent its soldiers to Russia's Kursk region as assistance to Moscow. They have already participated in combat against Ukrainian defenders.
According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, the losses of units composed of Russian and North Korean soldiers amount to about 200 personnel.
Meanwhile, US Department of Defense spokesperson General Patrick Ryder confirmed that among the DPRK soldiers sent to the Kursk region, there are both killed and wounded.
