The United States of America has implemented enhanced sanctions against Russia in the IT sector. Several leading companies have already announced their exit from the Russian market, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Several major companies and services have announced their exit from the Russian market or the introduction of new restrictions for Russian users as of September 12.

Among the new sanctions:

  • Google has blocked the registration of new accounts with Russian phone numbers and deprived Russian bloggers of the ability to earn revenue through AdSense;
  • Atlassian, Jira, Trello, and Confluence have announced a complete exit from the Russian market;
  • Notion, a service used for organizing work and project management, has become unavailable in Russia;
  • Miro will no longer serve Russian and Belarusian accounts;
  • Microsoft has started disconnecting Russian users from its cloud services;
  • Slack is exiting the Russian market, halting the use of its corporate messenger;
  • CAD systems and Autodesk have left Russia, and SAP and Oracle have exited the country’s ERP market.

It is also worth noting that the new sanctions will prohibit American companies from providing any IT consulting, design, support, or cloud services to any legal entities in Russia.

"In November 2022, the Yermak-McFaul Expert Group first proposed IT sanctions against Russia. After lengthy consultations, we thank our partners for their decisive actions. The aggressor state must feel full international isolation for its crimes," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

It should be noted that Google recently banned registration in its services using Russian phone numbers.

Additionally, it was reported that the US has recently blocked dozens of Russian propaganda media outlets. It was discovered that Russians were disguising fake websites as popular American and European resources.
