US engaged in direct talks with Iran on nuclear deal

The United States is holding direct negotiations with Iran over a potential nuclear agreement. Concluding such an agreement is better than other "obvious" actions, said President Donald Trump.
During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said that direct talks between the US and Iran have already begun and will continue this Saturday, 12 April.
"And I think everybody agrees that doing a deal would be preferable to doing the obvious. And the obvious is not something that I want to be involved with," he said.
He added that the situation is becoming very dangerous, but emphasized that if negotiations succeed, it will be in Iran’s best interest. The US, he noted, hopes for a diplomatic outcome.
Nuclear deal
The US wants to conclude a new nuclear deal with Iran, as the threat that Tehran will develop its own nuclear weapons has increased.
The United States has already threatened that if Iran refuses the deal, it will use force against it. In particular, US President Donald Trump has suggested strikes on Iranian territory.
