US Embassy condemns Russian deadly attack on Kyiv, contradicting Trump's call

The US Embassy in Ukraine has responded to the Russian strike on Kyiv that occurred on June 17 on its X account. The enemy attack claimed the lives of more than 20 people.
American diplomats joined in the Day of Mourning for the victims of the Russian strike on Kyiv on June 17. Among the dead was a US citizen, and among the more than 130 injured were children.
The Embassy also stated that the Russian attack contradicts US President Donald Trump's calls.
"We extend deepest condolences to the victims' families. This senseless attack runs counter to President Trump's call to stop the killing and end the war," the statement says.
Deadly strike on Kyiv
During the night of June 17, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine's capital using drones and various types of missiles.
In total, Russia launched 440 drones and 32 missiles at Ukraine overnight, including Kinzhal and Kalibr missiles, X-101 cruise missiles, guided aerial missiles X-59/69, and the anti-radar missile X-31P.
In Kyiv, a Russian missile completely destroyed part of a multi-story residential building - from the 9th floor down to the 1st.
As of the morning of June 18, rescue and recovery efforts were still underway at the site. 19 people were confirmed dead in the destroyed building alone, with more than 20 dead victims reported across the city.
