The US military carried out a precision airstrike in Syria, eliminating a senior militant of the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, according to the US Central Command on Twitter (X).

On January 30, US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted a precision airstrike in northwest Syria, eliminating Muhammad Salah al-Za'bir, a senior militant of the terrorist organization Hurras al-Din (HaD), an al-Qaeda affiliate, according to a military statement.

They clarified that the airstrike is part of CENTCOM and its partners' efforts to disrupt and prevent terrorists from planning, organizing, and carrying out attacks against civilians, US forces, and American partners.

"CENTCOM will continue to hunt and kill or capture terrorists, and defend our homeland, against groups that plot to attack US and allied personnel," emphasized General Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of US Central Command.

Elimination of terrorists

In September last year, US Central Command forces and Iraqi security forces conducted a raid in Iraq, resulting in the elimination of four ISIS leaders.

Meanwhile, last year, an individual accused of planning the September 11, 2001, attacks and his accomplices pleaded guilty.

As part of a plea deal, they were sentenced to life imprisonment instead of the death penalty.
