US election: Who wins in Pennsylvania, the state that could decide election's fate
Voting for the US presidential election has already ended in four so-called swing states, and the vote count has begun. One of these states is Pennsylvania, which could determine the outcome of the election.
Here is information on who is leading in Pennsylvania and other swing states.
As of now, 5% of the votes have been counted in Pennsylvania. While US media are hesitant to declare a winner, early results show Kamala Harris leading by a wide margin with 75% of the vote. Donald Trump, according to preliminary data, has around 25% support from Pennsylvania voters.
Updated. As of 4:45, 32% of the votes have been counted in Pennsylvania. Harris' support has decreased to 51.9%, while Trump's has risen to 47.3%.
Winning Pennsylvania would grant the candidate 19 electoral votes (270 are needed for victory), the highest number among the swing states. Trump, speaking on the radio, has already claimed that a win in Pennsylvania would secure the presidency for him.
Situation in other swing states
In addition to Pennsylvania, voting has concluded in North Carolina, Georgia, and Michigan, where the vote count is already underway.
In North Carolina, with 4% of votes counted, Harris is in the lead. In Georgia, where 48% of the votes have been counted, Trump is ahead. In Michigan, after 4% of votes are tallied, Harris leads.
No winner has yet been declared in any of these swing states. Since only a small portion of votes have been counted, the results in these states may change as more votes are tallied.
Meanwhile, national exit polls from Edison Research show that 48% of Americans support Harris, while only 44% support Trump.
Additionally, exit polls predict Harris will win in most swing states.
