US Congressman Joe Wilson accused Russia of declaring war on Poland and called for providing Ukraine with weapons to strike Russia, according to his post on X.

The Republican lawmaker from South Carolina sharply criticized Russia’s recent actions, stating that the use of Iranian Shahed drones against NATO member Poland constitutes an act of war.

He urged the Trump administration to respond immediately, emphasizing the urgent need for strict sanctions capable of crippling Russia’s military machinery and supplying Ukraine with arms that would enable strikes on Russian territory.

Wilson added that the Kremlin is no longer satisfied with aggression solely against Ukraine - now Moscow is testing NATO’s resolve, claiming that Russia has no borders. He called on the West to show Russia that there are limits that must not be crossed.

This statement has drawn heightened attention because it:

  • Frames Russia’s actions as a direct violation of NATO’s territorial integrity.
  • Demands a swift response from the US and its allies, both politically and militarily.
  • Introduces a new element of tension into an already complex geopolitical situation in the region.

A similarly tough statement regarding the violation of NATO airspace by Russian drones was made by Democratic Senator and member of the US Senate Judiciary Committee, Dick Durbin.

According to him, such incidents are a clear warning that Russian President Putin is testing the Alliance’s resolve to defend Poland and the Baltic states.

“After the carnage Putin continues to visit on Ukraine, these incursions cannot be ignored,” the senator emphasized.

He also urged allies to respond more decisively to Russia’s aggressive actions to prevent further escalation and threats to NATO’s eastern flank.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on the night of Wednesday, September 10, Russian Shahed drones crossed the Ukrainian border and entered Polish airspace.

As a result, Poland scrambled F-16 fighter jets and a SAAB 340 AWACS aircraft.

Additionally, on the night of September 10, Polish authorities closed the airspace over Lublin Airport due to unscheduled military activity related to ensuring national security.
