US Secretary of the Army Daniel P. Driscoll met with a Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi to discuss the peace process, according to CBS News and the Financial Times.
According to CBS News sources, Driscoll met with the Russian delegation in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, on the evening of Monday, November 24. The meeting lasted several hours.
"He is scheduled to meet with them again throughout the day (Tuesday - ed.) to discuss the peace process and rapidly move the peace negotiations forward," a CBS News source said.
It is currently unknown who, besides the minister, is part of the US delegation. It is also unclear who is representing the Russian side.
As the Financial Times reports, citing sources, Kyiv was informed in advance about the contacts. A meeting between Driscoll and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, may also take place soon.
US Army Secretary Driscoll may visit Russia to continue discussions on the plan to end the war in Ukraine, which took place in Geneva.
Geneva peace plan talks
On November 23, the first round of negotiations between the Ukrainian and US delegations was held in Geneva to coordinate the peace plan intended to end the war launched by Russia.
The parties said they had prepared an updated and refined framework document on peace.
Following the discussions in Geneva, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington would make "some adjustments" to its peace plan.
