The talks between US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and the Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi are going well, states the US Army Secretary’s spokesperson, Jeff Tolbert, according to The Guardian.

Tolbert emphasized that the talks began yesterday evening, on November 24, and are still ongoing. The main goal is to achieve a lasting peace in Ukraine.

"The talks are going well and we remain optimistic," Tolbert assured.

US-Russia talks

US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is holding talks with the Russian delegation after presenting Washington’s peace plan in Kyiv last week.

The meeting between the US and Russian delegations is taking place in Abu Dhabi.

Western media, citing sources, report that during the meeting, Driscoll will present Russia with an updated peace plan, which was agreed upon during a meeting between the US and Ukrainian delegations in Geneva.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made an ambiguous statement regarding the updated US peace plan.

He threatened that if the new version of the plan "erases the agreements" allegedly reached between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, "the situation will be different."

Lavrov also added that Russia "welcomed" the first version of the plan, which included 28 points. In particular, it envisaged limiting the size of the Ukrainian army and placing the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under full Russian control.
