The US State Department has approved a potential $185 million sale of military equipment to Ukraine, according to the US Department of Defense website.

The press release states that the Ukrainian Cabinet requested the purchase of Class IX spare parts to support vehicles and weapon systems supplied by the US military, as well as other related logistics and program support items.

The estimated value of the package is $185 million.

"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in the Europe," the release says.

US arms sales to Ukraine

After Donald Trump returned to the US presidency, the United States effectively stopped directly funding arms sales to Ukraine.

At the same time, Washington, together with NATO, launched the PURL program, under which European countries finance the purchase of American weapons for Kyiv. More than 20 countries have joined this initiative so far.

A few weeks ago, Ukraine’s NATO Mission head Alona Hetmanchuk stated that in 2026 Ukraine will need $15 billion worth of American weapons under PURL, including air defense systems, primarily Patriot and NASAMS.

Additionally, at the end of December, Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act for 2026, totaling $901 billion, with $800 million allocated for Ukraine - $400 million each in 2026 and 2027.
