US and Russian officials could meet in Miami as early as this weekend to discuss the possibility of ending Russia's war against Ukraine, Politico reports.

Unnamed sources told the outlet that the Russian delegation is expected to include Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia's sovereign wealth fund. The United States is expected to be represented by President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the US leader's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

One Politico source said that Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov is also expected to meet with the US delegation ahead of the US-Russia talks. According to the source, "plans remained fluid."

Officials in President Trump's administration believe Russia could accept Western security guarantees and Ukraine's EU membership as part of a final agreement, but Russian President Vladimir Putin has so far shown no signs of this.
