US and allies discussing response to DPRK troops fighting against Ukraine
The United States continues its engagement with allies and partners, working together to ensure an appropriate response to North Korea’s deployment of troops near Ukraine’s border, according to Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department.
"We are consulting with our allies and partners about the appropriate response to the deployment of North Korean soldiers inside Kursk to potentially engage in combat with,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Miller noted he could not yet make any official announcements on specific decisions. He added, "The response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine has not been just a United States response." The State Department spokesperson reminded that a coalition of over 50 countries had been formed for this purpose.
“On behalf of the United States, we are going to continue to support Ukraine. We are going to continue to support them on the battlefield, and we are going to continue to work to maintain the alliance that we have put together,” Miller declared.
Additionally, the State Department spokesperson said that the United States also expressed its concerns to China about the increased interaction between Russia and the DPRK.
As a reminder, South Korea has not ruled out supplying weapons to Ukraine, which would depend on North Korea’s level of involvement in the war against Ukraine. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol made the corresponding statement.
