US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink has commented on the overnight Russian attack on Odesa, according to her X.

"Over the past 18 hours, Russia has continued shelling civilians in the Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Sumy regions," the statement said.

She noted that our thoughts are with the victims of these horrific attacks and called for support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia's barbaric war.

Night attack by Russia on Odesa

During the night of March 2, Russian forces attacked Odesa and its region with drones. After the first hour of the night, there were reports of explosions in the city, and later it became known that a drone had hit a multi-story building.

As of 15:35, five people were reported dead, including a child. At the same time, rescue operations at the scene are ongoing, as there may be people under the rubble, according to the State Emergency Service.

According to Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, the Russian military deliberately targeted a residential building in Odesa, even though there were no residential objects nearby.

A mourning was declared in Odesa.

Russian attack on the Kharkiv region

Additionally, on the night of March 2, Russian forces attacked the Kharkiv region with Shahed drones.

As a result of the drone attacks, two cars were completely burnt, and houses and garages were damaged.

Also, around 00:10, there was a hit, presumably by a Shahed UAV, on a private house in the village of Velykyi Burluk.

"The 76-year-old owner of the house was rescued from the rubble. The house was destroyed. An elderly woman from a neighboring house was evacuated by the police," the statement from the Kharkiv region police said.
