Ukraine needs more air defense systems and interceptor drones, as Russia may intensify its attacks by the end of the year, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov says in an interview with CNN.

According to Umerov, after the meeting between Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Alaska, attacks on Ukraine intensified.

“And it (Russia - ed.) is combining attacks with cruise ballistic missiles, including the kamikaze drones,” said the Ukrainian Secretary.

Umerov thanked allies in the US and EU for funding Ukraine’s defense. Umerov also reminded that NATO provided a new defense support mechanism through the PURL program.

“We need, of course, more air defense, and we need interceptor drones financing. Russia is trying to increase the attacks to one thousand attacks per day. So by the end of the year, I think they will be expanding it, and it shows that there is no big intention from Russia to end this war,” a Ukrainian high-ranking official emphasized.

Russian attacks on Ukraine after Alaska summit
