During an unusual morning attack on Kyiv on March 16, Russian forces launched more than 30 drones of different types. Most of them were strike drones, while some were reconnaissance drones, Head of Communications Department of Air Force Command of Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat said.
"Among the not very good news is that those drones indeed have communication channels, and the enemy can control them. There were also reconnaissance ones, but mainly strike drones," he explained.
According to Ihnat, there is also better news – "almost all drones were shot down."
"We saw debris in the center of the capital. They will identify what kind of drones those were and how the enemy is modernizing them," Ihnat added.
As clarified by the spokesperson of Kyiv City Military Administration, Kateryna Pop, debris fell in open areas. There are currently no casualties.
"We are currently studying reports about debris falling in different locations. Most air attack means were destroyed on approaches to the capital," she said during a television marathon.
Ihnat also commented on information about high-speed targets recorded by monitoring channels and the air force.
"Target was identified that resembled a cruise missile in flight direction. For now, information is not confirmed. There is currently no data about any hits or destruction regarding this target," a spokesperson explained.
