Unknown drones spotted during NATO exercises in Poland: Troops report communication disruptions

During exercises in Poland, Dutch military personnel spotted several suspicious drones. Their origin is currently being determined, NOS reports.
According to a defense ministry representative, in addition to the appearance of unidentified drones, communication problems were observed among the soldiers. At that time, the military lacked protection against drones, so the necessary equipment was urgently delivered from the Netherlands following the incident.
"There was no immediate threat. We were quite far from the Russian border. We realised this right away and quickly adapted," said Brigadier General Frank Grandia.
In recent weeks, the Airmobile Brigade has taken part in the large-scale NATO exercise Falcon Autumn, which is being held in Poland with the participation of troops from Poland, the United States, and other allies. It was during the deployment of the camp at an airfield near a Polish town that small drones were spotted.
Who exactly is behind the appearance of the drones and the communication disruptions remains unknown.
"We are aware that there are parties who closely monitor our actions and are interested in the exercises," Grandia added.
Despite the incident, the exercises were not cancelled, only partially adjusted. Eventually, the drones disappeared.
Incursion of drones into NATO airspace
Over the past month, numerous unidentified drones have been recorded over the territories of NATO member states, violating their airspace. The drones were spotted near military facilities, strategic infrastructure, as well as civilian and military airports.
Such incidents have been documented in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and Poland. Similar cases also occurred in Romania and Bulgaria. As a result of the appearance of unidentified drones, some Alliance members were forced to temporarily suspend operations at civilian airports.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, most of these drones may have been launched from Russian tankers belonging to the so-called shadow fleet.
