Today, December 18, the UK government introduced a new package of sanctions against a number of individuals and legal entities from Russia, including the energy companies Tatneft, Russneft, according to Sky News.

Following the example of the European Union, the British government has imposed additional sanctions against 24 individuals and legal entities associated with Russia.

The list of new sanctioned companies includes Tatneft and Russneft. Russia's two largest oil producers, Rosneft and Lukoil, were included in the British sanctions package in October.

UK sanctions against Russia

In October this year, the British government expanded its sanctions list against Russia, adding 40 more companies and individuals, including large energy companies, banks, and intermediaries that helped the Kremlin circumvent restrictions. Violation of the sanctions regime in the United Kingdom can be considered a criminal offense.

On December 4, the United Kingdom also announced new large-scale sanctions against Russian military intelligence. The sanctions target both the intelligence service itself and 11 of its representatives linked to the war in Ukraine and the events of 2018.

The UK also recently imposed sanctions on individuals and organizations involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children.

The list includes the mother of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, Aymani Kadyrova, and the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation, which organizes re-education and militarization camps for children. In total, the sanctions affected eight individuals and three organizations linked to the Kremlin.
