UN Security Council to meet tonight over Russian massive strikes on Ukraine

After a wave of Russian attacks that resulted in civilian casualties, Ukraine initiated an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council. Kyiv expects its partners to support the demand for a ceasefire as a basis for the peace process, reports Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha on X.
“Tonight, the UN Security Council will convene an important meeting upon Ukraine's initiative,” Sybiha wrote.
After the recent Russian attacks that have resulted in civilian casualties, Ukraine expects its partners to make strong statements that confirm the broad international consensus on the need to force Russia to agree to a full ceasefire as a basis for a meaningful peace process.
“Ukraine will reiterate its full commitment to advancing peace efforts together with the U.S. and European partners,” the minister emphasized.
He adds that Ukraine plans to emphasize that as long as Russia impedes the peace process and carries out brutal attacks on the country and people, pressure on the aggressor must continue to mount.
