This is a time-tested recipe that yields thick, aromatic, and tender jam. The recipe is designed for 3 kg of apples, but you can easily adjust the proportions if you want to make more or less.

Ingredients you'll need:

  • 3 kg of apples (peeled and cored)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 800 g of sugar (if you like it very sweet, you can use 1 kg)

Step-by-step instructions

Peel and core the apples, then cut them into small pieces or slices. Using a food processor is convenient. Place the prepared apples in a thick-bottomed pot and add a cup of water.

Place the pan over medium heat and cook the apples for about 20-30 minutes. They should become soft. If there are any unsoftened pieces, mash them with a potato masher or blend them until smooth.

Pour the sugar into the applesauce, mix thoroughly to dissolve it completely. Continue cooking the mixture for another 10 minutes. During this time, the jam will thicken.

Pour the hot jam into pre-sterilized jars. You can sterilize jars and lids in the oven or microwave. Seal the jars, turn them upside down. Leave them to cool completely.
