Ukrainians in Crimea warned of digital blockade, long internet outages ahead

In Crimea, Russians have warned of a possible prolonged mobile internet shutdown, threatening the digital isolation of local Ukrainians. This decision is justified by security measures and efforts to combat cyberattacks, state simultaneously Sevastopol Governor Mykhailo Razvozhayev and the Ministry of Internal Policy, Information, and Communications of the annexed peninsula.
In Crimea, talks have resurfaced about a possible prolonged shutdown of mobile internet.
The authorities stated that such measures may be implemented to counter enemy attacks and ensure citizens' safety. However, the exact meaning of prolonged was not specified.
Sevastopol’s head, Mykhailo Razvozhayev, said that temporary periods of mobile internet restrictions may increase, and a complete internet shutdown could last for an indefinite period. According to him, residents of Sevastopol and the entire Crimean Peninsula have already become accustomed to regular mobile internet outages during drone attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The official’s post also emphasized that due to the threat of repeated terrorist attacks from Ukraine, additional security measures might be introduced in Russia’s southern regions, leading to mobile internet access restrictions for an indefinite time.
Thus, Crimea’s residents are being prepared for possible digital isolation, which could affect communication, information access, and daily life in the region.
