Now is the moment when Ukraine needs to make a fundamental decision - to continue fighting or to negotiate peace. Meanwhile, the administration of US President Joe Biden is working to ensure that Ukraine holds the strongest possible position, stated US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in an interview with MSNBC Morning.

"The Ukrainians have to make fundamental decisions about carrying on the fight or looking to negotiate and try to bring this to a ceasefire," Blinken said.

The US Secretary of State emphasized that the question of whether Russia is ready to do that is also fundamental.

"But if it moves to that, we want to make sure that the Ukrainians and the Trump administration have the best hand to play to cut the strongest possible deal," he added.

According to him, this means further work to strengthen Ukraine's position on the battlefield so that it has the necessary resources, ammunition, and mobilized soldiers.

At the same time, he noted that this means continuing to exert maximum pressure on Russia.

Earlier today, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump. The parties discussed Russia's war against Ukraine.
