Ukrainians attacked outside store in Warsaw because of nationality

In Warsaw, three men attacked a group of Ukrainians near a store. Police confirmed that the motive was the victims' nationality, Raport Warszawski reported.
The incident occurred last Thursday. Near a store, unidentified men attacked a group of young Ukrainians.
The attackers did not stop at insults — three of them brutally beat the foreigners. A woman who accompanied the victims called the police and recorded the entire incident on her phone.
Investigators from Białołęka arrived at the scene. They secured evidence, interviewed witnesses, and compiled descriptions of the perpetrators.
Due to the injuries sustained by one of the victims, an ambulance was called.
"Police immediately launched operations to identify and detain the attackers," emphasized Chief Superintendent Paulina Onyszko.
Quick response and arrests
The key evidence turned out to be the recording made by a witness. Investigators analyzed the video and identified the perpetrators. The next day, a patrol arrested a 41-year-old man. A few hours later, two more were arrested in an apartment in Białołęka: a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old.
During the search, officers found mephedrone, possession of which was admitted by the oldest of the detainees.
All three men were charged.
- The 41-year-old man will be held accountable for his participation in the attack.
- The 28-year-old man was also charged with causing bodily harm, insulting a person on the basis of nationality, and threatening a witness.
- The 36-year-old man was charged with assault, insult, and possession of narcotics — in his case, the aggravating factor is recidivism.
Court decision and further proceedings
The investigation is being conducted by the prosecutor's office of the Warsaw district of Praga-Północ. The court placed the suspects under police supervision.
Each of them is prohibited from contacting the victims and other co-defendants. Assault and insult on the basis of nationality are punishable by imprisonment for up to five years. Repeat offenders may face harsher punishment.
At the beginning of the year, the bodies of two men were found in a hotel in the Polish city of Kraków.
As investigators established, one of the deceased was a 58-year-old citizen of Ukraine who had lived in that room for the past two years.
Earlier, in the Polish village of Rokiciny, a man and a married couple were arrested on suspicion of murdering a Ukrainian migrant worker.
