Russian forces launched another mechanized attack in the Dobropillia area, attempting to capture the settlements of Shakhove and Volodymyrivka. The enemy suffered heavy losses, according to the 1st Corps of the National Guard Azov.

According to reports, the enemy deployed 29 armored vehicles in the assault, making it one of the largest offensives in recent times. A notable feature of the attack was the increased number of tanks.

The enemy tried to complicate the Ukrainian forces' actions by moving their equipment in small groups of 4-5 units via different routes and at different times.

The Russian troops also counted on unfavorable weather conditions, which make drone operations more difficult. Despite this, their plan was thwarted.

Thanks to early engineering preparation of positions, effective mining, and coordinated actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, primarily artillery units of the Armed Forces and National Guard brigades, as well as the unmanned systems forces, the enemy attack, which lasted over six hours, was repelled.

As a result, the enemy lost 15 vehicles: two tanks, 12 armored combat vehicles, and one light vehicle. Enemy infantry from the vehicles was destroyed by FPV drones.

Cleanup of enemy infantry landing sites is currently ongoing.

Failed Russian assaults near Dobropillia

This is not the first attempt by Russian forces to advance in the Dobropillia area of the Donetsk region.

On October 16, Ukrainian troops repelled another Russian attack on the settlements of Shakhove and Volodymyrivka near Dobropillia, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy.

That same day, it was reported that National Guard units inflicted devastating losses on the enemy in the Dobropillia direction, destroying multiple tanks, armored vehicles, and trucks. Dozens of Russian soldiers were eliminated by artillery and drone strikes.

Reports also confirmed another large-scale mechanized assault in the same area on October 13. During that attack, Russian forces deployed 16 units of heavy armored vehicles, including infantry fighting vehicles (BMP), MT-LBs, and tanks. However, the assault failed, with most of the equipment destroyed.
