Today, in the Dobropillia direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled another massive attack by Russian forces, according to the press service of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Azov.

According to the unit, the enemy launched an assault with 16 heavy armored vehicles, including BMPs, MT-LBs, and tanks. Russian forces attempted to breach the defensive line of the Ukrainian Armed Forces toward Myrnohrad and Razino, focusing their main efforts on capturing the settlement of Shakhove.

During the battles, Ukrainian units destroyed 9 infantry fighting vehicles, 4 armored personnel carriers, 3 tanks, and 3 motorcycles. Enemy casualties reached 78 soldiers.

Azov noted that the Russian army used its typical tactics again: motorcycle units led the first wave of the assault, followed by armored vehicles carrying troops. Using electronic warfare systems to suppress Ukrainian drones, the enemy attempted to deploy infantry in the settlements to secure positions and continue the offensive.

However, thanks to the timely mining of the territory, as well as the coordinated actions of the artillery, the National Guard, unmanned systems units, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the attack was completely repelled.

The command expressed gratitude to the paratroopers, assault troops, National Guard, Ground Forces, Air Force, State Border Guard Service, Unmanned Systems Forces, and logistics and support units for their courage and professionalism in repelling the assault.

The Dobropillia counteroffensive

In September, Ukrainian forces seized the initiative in the Dobropillia direction and launched counteroffensive operations.

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, since the start of this operation in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces have liberated more than 180 square kilometers of territory.

In addition, Ukrainian units cleared much of the area of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups, regaining control over several strategic positions.

On September 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told US President Donald Trump in New York that Ukrainian troops had managed to encircle 1,000 Russian soldiers during the counteroffensive.
