Ukrainian special forces strike group of Russians in Avdiivka: 8 occupiers eliminated (Video)
The Ukrainian Defense Forces detected a group of Russians in the Avdiivka direction and targeted them with artillery fire. Eight occupants were successfully eliminated, according to the command of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"The Special Operations Forces operators continue to execute combat missions in the Avdiivka direction, thwarting attempts by occupation forces to encircle the city," the statement reads.
Reportedly, during the night hours, soldiers of the 8th regiment, using a thermal vision-equipped drone, detected an attempt by the enemy to bring reinforcements to the front lines.
"Swift and destructive action was promptly taken against the enemy. As a result of the professional actions of the Special Operations Forces operators, eight occupiers were eliminated, and one was wounded," military officials add.
Battles for Avdiivka
Russian occupiers intensified battles in the Avdiivka area at the beginning of October. This offensive is considered the most significant since 2014.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated that the occupiers lost nearly 10,000 soldiers in battles for Avdiivka. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Russian losses in the Avdiivka area were greater than in Bakhmut.
Ukrainian military explained that the occupiers would not be able to capture Avdiivka unless they took control of the territory of the Avdiivka Coke Plant.
Currently, fierce battles continue along the entire front line in the Avdiivka area, particularly in Stepove, northwest of the city. Invaders aim to seize it to disrupt the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
