Ukrainian drones operated by the special unit Prymary (Ghosts) successfully struck a Russian S-400 air defense system in temporarily occupied Crimea. The attack targeted control and detection radars, as well as a missile launcher, according to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence.

"Drones of the Prymary special unit of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine continue to systematically weaken Russian air defenses in temporarily occupied Crimea," the intelligence said.

In the video, intelligence officers showed footage of combat work on critical and expensive components of the S-400 Triumph air defense system.

In total, the following components were hit:

  • two 92N2E multifunctional control radars;

  • two 91N6E detection radars;

  • one S-400 missile launcher.

"Radars are the eyes of the enemy's air defense system. Without them, these anti-aircraft systems become non-operational," the intelligence noted.

S-400 Triumf air defense radar system

The radar system (RLS) of the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile complex is a crucial component of Russia's air defense system.

The radar of this system is capable of detecting and tracking various aerial targets, such as aircraft, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and other airborne objects.

The S-400 radar is known to process a large number of targets simultaneously, enabling a high level of integration with other missile systems and command tools, thus ensuring effective defense against aerial threats at all levels.

It employs multiple types of missiles capable of destroying targets at various ranges and altitudes, which is essential for effectively countering a wide range of complex and diverse threats.

This spring, a radar station of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed in the Russian-occupied Crimea, near the city of Saky.
