Kursk operation

The Ukrainian Defense Forces launched an operation in the Kursk region in early August. The Ukrainian defenders took control of dozens of settlements. Recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of a buffer zone near the border with Russia.

Russian troops are trying to push Ukrainian forces out. To this end, North Korean troops have been deployed to the Kursk region, but they have not yet been involved in combat.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine could have seized the Kursk nuclear power plant but did not want to do so.
