The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian storage facility for thermobaric ammunition. It happened on the night of February 28 on the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region, General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine says.
According to the General Staff, the Russian depot was located near Selydove.
“In addition, 3 more important Russian targets were hit. In particular, the Ilsky oil refinery (Krasnodar Krai of Russia), which is involved in the supply of the Russian occupation army,” the statement said.

Thermobaric ammunition is a type of explosive weapon that uses oxygen from the environment to create a powerful explosion with high temperature. They consist of a fuel-air mixture that, after being sprayed into the air, ignites, creating a powerful blast wave with a long-lasting thermal effect.
Such munitions have a much higher destructive power than conventional high-explosive shells and are capable of hitting the enemy even in well-fortified shelters.
They create a vacuum effect that can lead to ruptured lungs and internal organs in people in the affected area. In addition, the high temperature of the explosion can cause large-scale fires and destroy buildings, equipment, and other shelters. It is precisely because of their cruelty and mercilessness towards civilians that thermobaric weapons are a cause of serious concern to the international community.
