Ukrainian Security Council explains North Korean troops' failure in Kursk region
North Korea's military failed in the Kursk region due to a lack of training to counter drones and artillery. They are now undergoing "error correction" with Russian commanders and their officers, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation.
Kovalenko noted that despite the losses, it’s too early to conclude that North Korean forces will cease their active participation in the war. According to the plans, they will continue to be actively involved.
"Another major issue for Kim is that North Korean troops have been taken prisoner, and there’s documented evidence of the bodies of dead Koreans. Russia was supposed to ensure their participation remained anonymous, according to the initial agreements, but they did not do so," Kovalenko stated.
Fighting in the Kursk region
At the end of last summer, Ukrainian troops seized large areas of territory in the Kursk region of Russia. In response, Russia was forced to engage North Korean troops in combat. However, due to poor training and language barriers, North Korean soldiers suffered significant losses.
Political strategist Taras Zahorodnii assessed whether US President Donald Trump could force North Korea to stop helping Russia in the war. During his first term, Trump tried to establish relations with North Korea and even met with Kim Jong Un.
We also wrote that North Korean soldiers were taken to Russia by ferry and then by train. According to one of the North Korean soldiers, they were in complete information isolation.
